Since 1978 I have been fortunate to sail wooden boats. In 2006 I set out to find a Drascombe Longboat Cruiser for single-handed expedition sailing. This is the continuing story of how it came to be, our adventures, notes on the maritime world and other things I don't want to forget...

Deadrise Rising

Dialing back a month or so....

In late February I drove east to see how Annie had faired during our absence and check in at the maritime museum in Deltaville. While I was away John England and crew had made great progress on a 20 foot deadrise skiff. He and Johnnie were setting frames and readying to lay in the final planks. The work was superb, like they had been turning them out for years. Here is a look from then. I'm sure they are closing in on the finish by now. Got to get back down!
